| OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE DISORDER People who suffer from obsessive-compulsive disorder attempt to deal wiht repeated, unwanted thoughts or ritualistic behaviors that get out of control, such as constantly washing their hands or collecting trash. PHOBIAS People wiht phobias feel extreme terror when confronted with a specific situation or object (heights, animals or close places). Phobias can keep a person form leading a nomal life because the individual makes adjustments in daily activities in order to avoid the situation or object. Example: A person suffering from Acrophobia (fear of heights) might not be able to work in or visit tall building. PANIC DISORDER Panic disorders are characterized by sudden, intense feelings of terror for no apparent reson. During a panic attack, a person's hart rate and breathing will increase, they will start to sweat, and often become dizzy. Example: A person experiencing a panic attack, feel like the walls are closing in on them. |
